We looked at the audiences for the following films and what that told us about the age and gender of pschological horror film audiences.

From looking at these results we found that the largest audience for this subgenre of horror films was Males Aged 18-29. Both The Shining and The Ring were 15 certificate and Rosemary’s Baby was an 18 so that again gives an indication that it will probably appeal the most to young adults i.e. people in their early twenties. I think because girl stereotypically get scared more easily, that could explain why there are a larger number of men going to see these films.

Through doing this research we knew that our own film would not be classed as an 18, and would either be a 12 or 15 due to their being a low level of violence/blood, but being pshycologically very strong and haunting. We will have to wait until we see our finished film to classify it properly.
